A new approach to affordable homeownership is taking shape in Fort Worth, thanks to the launch of the Fort Worth Community Land Trust (FWCLT). Formed in 2023 through a partnership between the City of Fort Worth, the Housing Finance Corporation, and the Rainwater Charitable Foundation, FWCLT is using the community land trust model to create long-term affordable homeownership options for residents.

This initiative targets Fort Worth residents priced out of homeownership, especially in historically Black and Hispanic neighborhoods most at risk of displacement. As FWCLT Executive Director Becky Gligo shared, “We’re trying to preserve affordability for the long haul but we also want to be in community with you.”
