WHY IT MATTERS

Our city’s greatest asset is its people—the workers, students, families, business owners, neighbors, and dreamers. By coming together to align local housing with local wages, we can help everyone stay and thrive in Fort Worth.

Teachers, police officers, and blue-collar workers can both work and live in the communities they serve. Children can stay in their chosen school systems without disruption. Small business owners can establish lasting connections. By keeping our communities together, we allow our neighborhoods and cultures to flourish.

ABOUT OUR WORK

GOAL

Increase attainable housing, particularly homeownership, among families earning 60-80% of the area median income within mixed-income communities.

SCOPE

To preserve and foster the rich cultural mosaic of Fort Worth's communities, the FWCLT will pursue projects and partnerships across the city that best fit the needs of each community, including new construction, renovation, and supporting eligible buyers to find homes on the open market.

APPROACH

Collaborate and foster meaningful partnerships with housing organizations across the region.

1ST PROJECT

FWCLT owns 15 acres of property in South Fort Worth known as Carroll Park. This project is nearing the community collaboration phase of its development. We are excited to share more information about this project in the near future.

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY LAND TRUST?

Community Land Trusts (CLTs) help create and maintain attainable housing, so hardworking families can own their homes and build equity. Since CLTs keep ownership of the land, the homes stay attainable even if the original owners sell. This makes CLTs a smart way to use land and resources.

CLTs bring stability and keep homes attainable in areas with lots of market-rate development, like Fort Worth.

COMMUNITY

A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a community-focused nonprofit organization that works with community members and homeowners. Through a unique board structure, meaningful community-based decision-making is possible.

LAND

Parcels of land are brought into the CLT portfolio and become community-owned, ensuring the use of the land for community benefit.

TRUST

CLT governance promotes transparency and community participation in service to its enduring mission.

How A CLT Works

MEET THE INAUGURAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Becky Gligo

As a high school teacher, I saw firsthand how housing instability undermined our children’s success. That experience fueled my commitment to ensuring every member of our community has access to stable, attainable housing.

Through thoughtful and responsible development, we can preserve the rich mosaic of communities and cultures that make our city unique and vibrant, while ensuring hardworking families have a place to call home.
